Is there a unique American mission in the world today? Yes, but hopefully America will change its mission, soon.

America, under Republican control, has made American consumerism, materialism, and military power a way of life in more countries than just America. We've exploited and invaded poor nations. We've exported greed and jobs to purchase cheap stuff at low prices, and demand the rest of the world become American. We've done it by borrowing profits. We've done it at the point of our guns. We've done it with marketing campaigns. We've made most non-Americans resent and fear us.

We have supported our case for our actions under the guise of Christian morality, spreading democracy and freedom, overthrowing corrupt leaders of sovereign nations, pre-emptive retaliation on terrorism, defending our freedom, and patriotism.

We have, while abusing our power and wealth, weakened the United Nations, our security, our freedom and our democracy. We have sold our soul to oil exporters and cheap good exporters. We have leveraged our future against the productivity of our children and grandchildren, passing our accrued debt off to those who will inherit the spoils of our ineptness, ignorance, apathy, intolerance and arrogance.

While we claim to be the greatest nation in the world, we make enemies around the world. We mistreat and abuse other people, for our personal mission of owning, controlling, and consuming everything that exists in the world.

We continue to pollute, destroy, and deny our contributions to an increasing threat to the global climate changes, from selfishness and convenient denial of reality.

The question we should be, and are asking is, "Can we change our mission?" Thankfully, the answer to that question is before us and it is our decision to make, now. We are in an election year, which has the potential to change our mission in our land and around the world. We have three good candidates to vote for in the presidential race, and an opportunity to shift the power from the greed and arrogance of the Republican Party, which has proven to be inept, irresponsible, and downright mean to poor and underprivileged people at home and abroad, for increased wealth and power of mega-corporation's profits.

John McCain, though a good man, still believes it is the right of America to dominate the world, and police it through military might and invasions of sovereign nations, whom we don't like; a change for the better, but not much better. He will escalate conflicts
