Using the rhythm of the poem "If" by Rudyard Kipling.
If you can change your overall consumption
Of petrol products that pollute the air,
And realistically assess your gumption,
Until you make decisions that are fair.
If you can walk instead of always driving,
And cut the harmful fumes that form a cloud,
Of smog that says commercialism's thriving,
Content to be a citizen that's proud.
If you can use cosmetics that are simple,
Not tested on the creatures that must suffer,
To solve your looks or mend that swollen pimple,
In doing so, then you provide a buffer.
That stops the world from it's own degradation,
And takes the time reflecting on what's pure,
A contribution to a cleaner nation,
Then, only then, the world may find a cure.
If you appreciate all nature's giving,
Give back in turn, and keep your Karma clear,
You help the world to carry on with living,
Without the same exaggerated fear
Produced by all consumers that aren't thinking
Of consequence, or life lived on this earth,
The purity of water that they're drinking,
Or the natural phenomena of birth,
And going on to offer to the youth today,
A world that's clean, and safe from human harm,
See pleasure in a simpler kind of way,
Be not seduced by all temptation's charm.
If you can look at rainclouds, feel the sun,
Or watch the star filled heavens up above,
You will have learned, when all is said and done,
That nature offers longer lasting love.
If you can play your part in special projects,
That help re-cycle things we throw away,
Not tempted by a life that's filled with objects,
But taking time to live and learn and play.
If you can understand your contribution,
To all that our morality can bear,
Turn off those worldly goods that cause pollution,
Then you can celebrate, and breathe fresh air.
