What makes the Internet so great

The interconnected world, that says allot just as a statement. In times past no one would of thought about it in that regard, they would of instead seen it as only a fad of interest to a select few. Perhaps in it's infancy that is exactly what it was. At that time it was called Arpanet. Started out as a medium to share information amongst colleagues, an open medium to establish a focus group. Of physicist and professionals, it was established as an automated process for collaboration. Really when you think about it that aspect has not really changed. The main difference is simply there are many other individuals collaborating and sharing information with the public at large, without censorship without control but truly an amazing medium of collaboration.

The benefits are as diverse as the content you can find today on what was once called Arpanet ... if you were to look at it from the prospective of a stage based development it is likely today is many generations from the original idea. Today it is a means to an end, a way to share with the world your views without the expenses such as travel. It is also a new commercial center, though not just for a select few elite individuals. As the internet has grown so has its uses, the benefit of being able to setup your own store with little initial investment. An ability to compete in a global marketplace without having to deal with the diverse expenses that a traditional brick & mortar storefront would include. It is an immense library in and of itself available to any who seek it. It is becoming more of an educational outlet, in the sense that any information you could possibly want you can find somewhere, that collaboration aspect once more. You can explore history, read a great novel with the advent of electronic text with projects such as Gutenberg, and Google books are starting to take a hold of. As time progresses more of the written text that once was so difficult to find is making an appearance in a different format, a format that can be read from any of the millions of individuals who can access this diverse knowledge base.

Beyond even that as exciting as that can be, with the internet today you can read the viewpoints of any one individual, items you can relate to, that someone wrote in a blog. Even that is becoming easier, more and more sites are offering blogs for no money down, giving you a creative outlet with a worldwide following. A way to share your experiences through lifes journey, that one individual
