Keeping the mention of God in the national anthem

About three months ago, Kenya went through the most trying period in its history. The people had started to arm themselves and attacked their neighbors in the name of them being aliens' in their land because they were of a different tribe. The situation was very bleak as now Kenyans were counting days to an all out civil war. Towns were rupturing with killings and fire as hell began to descend on the nation, starting with towns to the utter west of the country slowly heading to the Nairobi, the capital city of the country. The smell of death and destruction was in the air.

Then there came a small group that restored hope using the tool that they knew best- the musicians. As the musicians sung the Kenyan national anthem,
Oh God, of all creation
Bless this our land and nation
Justice be our shield and defender
May we live in unity
Peace and liberty
May plenty be found in our borders
A new sense of hope began to fill the people of the nation- a sense of patriotism that led to the famous statement; Kenya is greater than all of us. Soon the dark cloud of Hades that had engulfed the nation started to loose it power with the mention of God in the prayer embodied in the national anthem and people got back to their senses.

Months later when faced with this idea of keeping the mentioning of God in a national anthem, I cannot but support and encourage those national anthems without God's name in the anthem, to include it since it will save the nation one day; Kenya being the best example to prove that point. I have nothing but a testimony of God's interference in the Kenyan situation since on the third day after the announcement of the election results, the police completely left the town of Mombasa and allowed people to enter the town of Nairobi and no body confronted the police in fights. Things just calmed down as people stopped fighting in most parts of the country. This happened after one day of singing the National anthem and leaders began to speak out for peace and reconciliation. Church leaders started calls for prayer and the country was saved from destruction.

You might be an atheist but I can attest to the existence of God in my own life. With the recent occurrence in Kenya, I can even advocate for the inclusion of the name of God on all symbols of national unity. Many say that America has prospered because it set out to be one nation under God and because on its currency it is written in God we trust'. Rather than debating if it is necessary to mention God in a national anthem, countries should just do it and they will see the difference.

May be this is to proof that when God leads a nation as he did with the Israelites in the days of the biblical Moses, That nation is able to face any challenge and will always prosper. I would be a good thing to look at countries national anthem and try matching their achievements with the mention of God in their anthems. I will not be surprised that the most prosperous nations use the name of God in the anthems.
