DIET DIARY DISASTER
I innocently walked by a mirror. What I saw made me back up and take a closer look. I had put on weight. Not a little weight but a lot of weight. That ruined my whole day.
I had to do something. I knew what that something was. I had to go on another dreaded diet.
It was Friday. I knew I should start the diet right then and there, but I told myself Monday would be a better day to start, you know, start at the beginning of the week. Also I needed one last week end to enjoy myself, and I did. If it didn't move, sometimes it did move, I ate it.
Monday, day one of my diet.
I woke up early Monday morning, feeling as I always did starting a new diet, full of willpower. I needed help so I joined a weight club. I closd my eyes as the counselor weighed me. High numbers on a scale have always frightened me. With the diet club healthy eating plan in my hand I went home to start my new life of eating good. As I prepared lunch I kept repeating to myself, out loud, "Today is the first day of the rest of your life".
I was still feeling energetic and determined as I prepared the families dinner, and my dinner. To be honest I would have traded their dinners for mine any day, but I ate mine and smiled. True it was a fake smile but I was trying.
Tuesday, second day of my diet
The second day of my diet I woke up hungry. I immediately went to the kitchen for my meager portion of food. When I entered the kitchen the most wonderful aroma I have ever smelled attacked me. Where was it coming from? I started looking for it. First I checked the refrigerator, nothing interesting there. Next the cabinets were examined, still nothing. Then I casually strolled by the garbage can. That was where the smell was coming from. I leaned down to examin the garbage a little closer. Just then my son entered the room and asked, "What are you doing"?
I immediately walked away from the garbage embarrassed, but vowing to check it again when he left. What a shock, especially in my house, someone emptied the garbage before I could get back to it.
Breakfast was a disaster. I was so hungry I ate more, much more, than my sensible eating schedule suggested. I felt guilty but comfortably full. I told myself one little slip wouldn't hurt.
Lunchtime came and I was good, eating nothing but a large green salad. Salad is not my favorite food but it is better than nothing, and I was still full from breakfast.
At dinnertime I sat with my rabbit food in front of me watching everyone else eat and enjoy their delicious
