How to wake up early

avoid or limit the energy drinks you consume. Sugar and caffeine have a tendency to spike your blood sugar and speed up your heart rate, which in turn will make you more jittery, awake and anxious. All of which will keep you awake at night, instead of resting peacefully like you should.

*Find Your Proper Balance
Getting enough rest is like driving a stick shift vehicle; you have to find that perfect balance in making it work. Getting too much sleep will cause your body to be overtired since you have been resting too long and not getting enough sleep will make you feel worn out and run down. Have you ever gone to bed really early at night only to find that when you wake up the next morning, you still feel extremely tired? You need to figure out what your body can operate on and use that to determine how much sleep would be appropriate for you.

*Maintain a Healthy Lifestyle
Waking up early is not all about setting an alarm clock; you need to be healthy and maintain proper body as well. Eating regularly, drinking caffeine in moderation, and exercising are all part of keeping fit. Do not skip meals, and be sure to snack often if you will not have time for a meal. Keep your blood sugar level and consume enough carbohydrates and protein to keep your energy level consistent.

*Bedtime Routines
Studies show that you should not go to bed if you are not sleepy however if you incorporate a routine into your lifestyle, your body will be trained to be tired at the same time each evening. Bedtime routines work amazingly well for babies and children, so common sense would say they work just as well for adults. It could be a simple routine such as a bath followed with a relaxing lotion massage. Or you could relax with a cup of chamomile tea and a book. By doing the same activities at the same time each evening, your body will taught that bedtime is at the same time each evening.

*Do Not Use Sleep Medications
Try to avoid sleep medications and other sleeping aids right before bedtime. Yes the claims on these medications are that you will wake up feeling better and refreshed but in order for these medicines to work you need at least 7-8 hours of sleep, minimum for it to be effective. I have even known some users of these drugs to wake up groggy and tired.

*Use Stress Relievers
Try not to let yourself get stressed out in your daily life. If you are worried about work or a deadline for a paper for school is looming, then you will be lying awake at night thinking too much about life. Use daily stress relievers, organize your deadlines, do not allow yourself to be anxious.

If you follow some or all of these steps, your body will start getting used to waking up earlier and you will be more refreshed and less groggy. You will also find that you will get so many more things accomplished by starting your day an hour or two earlier. Welcome to the early riser club!
