The high cost of getting pulled over and charged with a DUI is just outrageous. Though, can we really blame the law for crushing down harshly on people who drive drunk? Of course not, we have our loved ones and children to keep safe and in which helps us in keeping them safe. The bottom line is driving under the influence will put you at risk and other drivers around you at high risk that is unnecessary.
There are many reasons a person may feel they are just fine driving after drinking but the reality is no one really knows how fine they are until it's too late. Honestly, it doesn't matter what the reasons are for getting behind the wheel intoxicated, there is no excuse. There are a couple different ways to prevent getting a DUI. All of these tips revolve around being aware and responsible.
The first tip is to avoid putting yourself in this position. If you know you will be drinking, find a responsible driver or don't drink. Finding a dependable, responsible driver will prevent you from finding a excuse to drive after drinking. Also, taxi drivers are dependable and obviously are not drinking due to be on the clock, working. Calling a cab will always prevent you from driving drunk. Walking is great exercise and will help move the alcohol through your system quicker. Walking is beyond safer then driving drunk.
It's important to remember, driving drunk puts others at risk not just yourself. Helping others realize the importance of not driving drunk is another way to help prevent you and them from getting a DUI. Just remember if asked to go to a party, don't drive anywhere. It's better to call a cab or even walk home then to drive under the influence. If you avoid putting yourself in this illegal position then you are saving more then just your life, your saving a stranger's life. There is no excuse to drive intoxicated.
