The most anticipated video games of 2008

If you've put that Guitar Hero 3 controller down for long enough, you'd know that it is now 2008, so far it seems like this will be a very good year for gaming to say the least. All we have to do now is pray that these anticipated games aren't delayed for various reasons. Some of these games were introduced at the last E3, while others like Spore have been anticipated for years.

Right now your probably wondering exactly what are the most anticipated video games of 2008, correct? I'll admit that as a gamer, there are several title's that I'm personally waiting for, what are they you ask? Lets take a look at some notable releases expected this year.

*Metal Gear Solid 4

Of course, when you talk about anticipated games, you have to mention Metal Gear Solid. After seeing the numerous video's released after E3 about this game, I'd have to say that I'm stunned by the game play and graphics. Although this game is expected later this year, its sure to be a instant hit.

Expect to see everything you loved in the old Metal Gear Solid games and more in this sequel, even the series signature soundtrack. I'm taking bets that Metal Gear Solid 4 is going to get Sony's Playstation 3 a very good sales boost.

*Resident Evil 5

What can I say, this game is already surrounded in controversy, perhaps more then Grand Theft Auto 4 at the moment. Not much is known at this game at the moment, other then it's similar to Resident Evil 4 but set in Africa.

Resident Evil 5 is due out later this year, expect another great game to be added to the Resident Evil series.

*Super Smash Bros. Brawl

This game may be out at the moment, but I'm still going to put it on this list. First of all, it just came out a week or so ago, and this game is simply amazing. Of course its a sequel to the Super Smash Bros. for Gamecube, but what other game can you see Solid Snake and Sonic fighting with Mario and friends.

I'm impressed that Nintendo included so many feature's to the game, and online game play features allowing you to even bet on fights as you watch others play the game. If you haven't already, go out and buy this game, its well worth it.

*Spore

Some call Will Wright a genius, personally after reading up on Spore and watching several of its game play previews, I'd have to agree. You basically take the role of a character that evolves from a spore to a land walking creature.

From there you work with other creatures of your species and build an entire civilization. Once your civilization has reached a certain level, you can go into space and take over other planets, destroy them, or maybe even trade with them.

*Grand Theft Auto 4

Typically these days, with every new Grand Theft Auto there is more controversy in the gaming industry, but I guess it's nice to have some drama around to boost sales. RockStar studio's is at it again with the newest installment in the Grand Theft Auto series.

Though not much is known about the game at the moment, I've seen several videos of its game play and cut scenes. While both are impressive, the multi-player features are what excite me the most about this game.

When this comes out it's going to be a instant hit, expect more controversy then ever this time around.

In conclusion, as you can see the year 2008 is going to be a great year for the video games industry. As a gamer I'm excited about each of the titles listed above, especially Spore. What will be the games to look forward to in 2009? You'll just have to wait and see.
