The internet is full of social studies websites for elementary students the ones listed below are in my opinion the best ones, as I personally looked at and examined each of them for accuracy, user-friendly and appropriate content suitable to help elementary students learn the many different areas of social studies in a creative and fun way.
* White House Kids
This is a great websites for students learning about American history. The site has a section for with all of the 43 presidents including a link to click on which has an illustration of the president and a short biography.
A section for learning all about the White House including photos and a video. Lesson plans that include; the documents that support the United States, the Dream Team and what they do, historical events and even an address to write a letter to the President of the United States.

* Academy Curricular Exchange
Has a list of mini lessons all about American history, geography, and current events, Native Americans, Civil war, government and much more.
Each lesson includes a project and many can be combined as unit lessons including all core subjects. The information provided in the lesson plans; purpose of the lesson, background information, instructions, list of materials need for the projects and instructions on how to do the project, resources, follow up games and puzzles. Many of the units are designed to be a week long project. They are all donated to the site by teachers.

* Elementary Theme Units
This website is provided by Jim Cornish it has every subject available for elementary teachers, parents and students. The social studies subjects include; archaeology, history and geography each sub heading has nine to ten subject areas listed under it.
Each lesson plan includes; instructions, information, questions, projects and more links to websites with more related information. Each page has at least six topics per subject.

* Ben's Guide to US Government
Is a site hosted by "Ben Franklin," it's a great website it includes; lesson plans for each grade level, informational and fact sheets on all the subject material, glossary, questions, quizzes, puzzles, projects and a page of links to government sponsored websites for students to learn even more.

* Country Reports
This website is all about the different countries; learn about their culture, geography, economics, government, history and national symbols. The website has an interactive map, teacher's resources such as; worksheets, projects, quizzes and tests. While not all of the material is appropriate for elementary students there is a large amount that is.

* Elementary Education Resources
This website has over a hundred different links to social studies related educational material. Resources for teachers, parents and students. Many include lesson plans, worksheets, projects, reading material, quizzes and so much more. This site is the ultimate collection of all things related to elementary social studies and then some.
