I have a great lesson about make up from my grandpa, and how he fell in love with my grandma. On 1930s, my country under Dutch colonialism, my grandma worked as a teacher and my grandpa run his family business. The beauty of my grandma has been heard by my grandpa and he wanted to meet her. He met my grandma and had been attracted by her beauty, but my grandpa wanted to prove how beauty my grandma is. So, early morning he went to my grandma house and knocked the door. My grandma opened the door, at the time my grandpa fell deep in love to my grandma. Why? He found the real beauty of my grandma without make up, just woke up and uncombed hair. He found the pure of my grandma without any cover and all of these are nothing without her tenderness, love and care (TLC).
Then, this story always been told in our family gathering and even become a joke if a man of our family wants to introduce his women. My grandma said that beauty is relative; the inner beauty is the most because for outer beauty you can use any make up to cover it. It does not mean that the women in our family do not use make up, yes we use it but in proper occasion and not too much. Even my grandma used pomegranate to coloring her lips, hyena for her nails and burned stem of corn as eye liner because at colonialism era, those make ups were very exclusive for Indonesian.
The moral lesson from the story is a woman even more gorgeous in her natural attractiveness without anything to cover it. Her inner beauty comes up and brightens the face. Many women dependent upon make up, but the beauty of a woman is the nature of her and her good attitudes. I know some women who are not so beautiful compare to Angelina Jolie but look beautiful because of her TLC and knowledge. And many of young women who wear too much make up and scary my nephews. Just be confidence, convenience with your clothes and keep your good attitudes then you will be a beautiful woman.
As my grandpa said, "If you wants to look the nature beauty of a woman, knock the door in early morning, looks after she wakes up and you will see her natural beauty without any make up".
