I've read all of these posts and have to say that they seem to be rather clinical in their explanation of how you tell if you're gay.

I've always known that I was gay and the fact that I've lived for forty-two years would tend to make people think that I'm an expert. But what I've discovered is that the way that you know your gay or anything else is something very personal and different for everyone. I've always been attracted to the same sex and it just seemed normal to me. I'm sure it helped that I was into theater where you're allowed to express yourself on stage and off.

But for those who are reading these posts to somehow discover if they are in fact gay, I would say, you need to listen to what your heart has to say. When you're laying in bed late at night and you think about your life and yourself, when you're really quiet and aren't listening to what other people say or think, then your heart will speak to you. This honest dialogue you can only have with yourself is perhaps the biggest indicator of any of your wants, desires or dreams. So often we are so busy we never stop to listen to our own heart.

So sure, you can say that you know you're gay if you're attracted to the same sex or any other medical book definition but really, it's not about what you read or others tell you, it's about what your heart tells you. So take some time to be really quiet and you may just hear what your heart has been trying to tell you for a long time. And remember, having the capacity to be honest and loving makes you lovable.
