Being self employed is extremely hard. Many don't understand all that goes in to it. Lots just think being their own boss and working when they want. They think I can choose how much I make, more time with the family. I know every business stared small by some who had the know how and desire to offer what they have. But for most it doesn't work

But the draw backs are there as daunting as the rewards. Many don't think of them. Self employed takes lots of hard work. I'm thinking of the more offed self business like Avon, Pampered Chef, etc. Although those kinds are not the only home run business that fail.

Yet when you to work for an established company you know what to expect such as pay and hours you will get. The hours you work will be scheduled for you, although you may need to work over time. The salary is defined, and you know the amount of you will be taking home.

One of the worst mistakes people make for being self employed, is time and money management. How well do you use your free time that you have now? If you don't use it wisely, how do you plan on changing it? Changing habits are extremely hard to.

You need start up money. Doesn't matter what kind of business you plan to run; the need is there. You need to think how well you manage what you have now. Do you spend beyond your means? Being self employed means you plan on your business supporting you.

Are you a self motivated person? This to me is very importing. You need to be able to get up and say 'I need to work now', otherwise you won't get anything done. This means there will be no body to remind you what you need to get done. A business plan firmly in place is needed

Most people who are self employed say they have less family time now then they did. They find they need to give everything to business. They find themselves giving it eighty ninety or more hours in a week. It like a newborn baby, it needs your full attention.

On the other hand, getting a job, you need to know just a few things. Those are just the things for your job. You show up at work, work your allotted hours, then you go home. You have two different lives. You can leave you work problems at the office.

You can take time off. Most company gives you sick days, or vacation days. You can take these as needed, or save them. Also in most jobs you get your weekends. Forget that with your own business.

I know for me and many others having their own business wouldn't work. I'm all for working for others. There are many people to help you. Also you just paid, and don't go into debt starting up. I do know their a more then few out there who can and will make it. Most can't and shouldn't try. I think when you know yourself you can know what group you fall into.
