Poetry: Last call

by Kevin J. Putnam

Created on: March 30, 2008

"Last call"

thru the eyes of time

the loneliness becomes apparent

bartender, washing with a dirty white towel

curling smoke rides thru the waves of loser rock

one more beer, one more night, one more soul

hands wave to order the last drink of an

hopefully forgettable night.

Naive youth stumble in drunkin lust

calling it "cool"

soon they too will be looking

thru time's last call;

last call to get more numb

last call to stoke the delusions

last call to feed the monkey.
