do. Dancing, perusing the bookstore, skating, dining at Italian restaurants, campaigning for political candidates, cheering on the local sports team. Go there with the purpose of enjoying time spent there. While you are at it, be open to meeting someone new.
2. If you say that you are already doing this, then consider a change of visiting time. If the venue's schedule permits, go there at a different time or on a different day.
3. Let your friends know you are looking to meet someone new. Share your description, even the fuzzy one, with friends and even family, if appropriate.
4. Don't waste your time on someone who doesn't fit your image of a match. Be honest with yourself. There are all those traits such as age, race, etc. but maybe you have to face that you have other biases. Maybe you honestly believe that your match cannot be taller than you or shorter than you. That's o.k. You may not want to completely rule out the possibility, but be honest if a trait like that is going to get in the way of being what you think of as the perfect match.
5. Although you should pursue your interests and not force yourself into a setting that is not you- such as the bar scene if you don't drink, there may be some opportunities that come up that you should consider stepping out of your comfort zone. Maybe you aren't super athletic, but a friend asks you to the local 5k Run-Walk in a couple of months. With preparation, this might be just the thing to do, for lots of reasons, including the possibility that you might meet someone new during your "training" or at the actual 5 K event. There are lots of these scenarios. Be open to them if you can.
Be yourself. Do what you like to do. Re-design yourself just a bit if that's what will make you happy, but get to know yourself. It will help you recognize the perfect match when it comes along.
