Teacher bias, corrupting education. There is a lot more than teacher bias corrupting education such as principal bias. Let's not forget that the principals of schools are the ones who accept a child into their school or not.
I am a current employee for a public school who has been recently reassigned because I complained about a teacher who would always let all her home problems out on the children in the class. One day, she came into work and was really angry because they wanted to cut her cable bill. It was early in the morning and these children had no idea why this woman was so angry so early in the morning. This teacher was on the phone with the cable company while she was supposed to be giving the morning lesson to the children. Instead, she turned around and told them that she was not in the mood, and for them to stay out of clear out of her way or else. She then stormed out of the classroom in a fit of rage and left me in the classroom with the children.
On yet another day, she was in a really bad mood and she began telling them how she does not need anything from them and that the reason they are all in special education is because they do not know how to listen. She continued to tell them how she does not make enough money to teach them and that she could make much more money as a baby sitter. These are things that children do not need to hear because they just do not understand why she is telling them all of this.
Then, one day she was at it again and she sat them down on the rug and began picking out which one of the children was going to be somebody when they grow up. When she got to child D, she told her, "I am so sorry girl but I just can't find it in me to say that you are going to be anybody but a "Ghetto," child with no direction in your life." This child felt so hurt by what this teacher said and so did I. I found it to be so offensive and belittling. When she got to another child, child E, she told him, "you, you are nothing but a stupid kid and you will never amount to anything and I just see you in a juvenile detention center like the one that I used to work in." The boy got up and he looked at me and told me, "you see, I am stupid, I told you that I was stupid and dumb." This broke my heart because I worked so hard with this boy trying to get him to stop calling himself stupid and when he finally did, she told him how stupid he was.
I complained to the assistant principal about this teacher and she told me that the teacher has issues but that she is over all a good teacher. I told her that I wanted to be removed from that class and placed in another class and she begged me to stay for the children's sake. Then one day, I just had to tell a superior about this teacher and when I did, I got kicked out of the school by the principal. The principal of the school who is as corrupt as they come, told me that she did not want me in her school because I was nothing but a trouble maker. While I am still on payroll, I am no longer in that school or any other school. I am not allowed to work around children because I care for the children and that is not the type of people that principals are looking for.
To conclude, teacher bias, is a corruption that will not end until parents step in for their children and their children's rights because nobody else can do anything.
