I cannot believe that people would really think babies need brand clothing. Firstly babies have no idea what they are wearing and even if they didn't they can't tell you what they think at this age. No one is judging them and no paper is going to scrutinize what a baby is wearing. As long as they are warm, fed and loved that is all any baby needs.
Babies are expensive as it is without having to pay top notch for what they are wearing. Simply putting them in a baby vest, knitted top that nanny made for them and a pair of trousers passed down from your parents should be enough. All these labels that are being made and sold to parents with millions of pounds are completely crazy and only in the business to make money. They don't care what your baby looks like. If the designers for these baby brands told high paying parents that the new fashions accessory for their newborn was a Gucci hat and matching dungarees, these crazy parents would actually worry that there child was not in it.
A baby is an addition to your family that should be loved and cared for to the best of the parent/ guardians' abilities. If the parents cannot provide the brand clothing for their child, the people that judge them should take a look at themselves. Stop being materialistic and just let parents/guardians raise the child according to their own rules. I personally put my child in clothes that other babies in my family have worn from years ago. As these clothes have only been worn for a few weeks they are in perfect condition. Plus my 8 month old looks like a baby and not a fashion accessory on me like a handbag.
If you start putting your baby in expensive clothes now just imagine what they will be expecting when they are 13, as this is apparently the new 16. Instead of just buying brand name booties for your newborn costing 50, they want the new trainers costing over 500. It doesn't stop there if you start with your first baby buying them expensive brand name clothing, imagine having 3 children all wanting clothes that cost well over your budget.
Basically babies do not need brand clothing, as they are babies and not models. If you start now you will severely regret it when you have more babies and you savings go down. Let them be their age and don't push them into being older than they need to be. When I was a baby all of my clothes were pass downs and I now have a greater meaning of what money is. If you really have that much money to buy brand names for babies to grow out of within 2 weeks, give some money to charity and make use of it.
