When purchasing an air guitar from ebay it's wise to remember that, however vivid your imagination is, an air guitar is made from air so pay for it with air money. I remember seeing a picture of my first one in ebay and, though of course the image was blank, I envisioned it the shape of a dragon, emblazoned with the stars and moon.
I ordered it and waited expectantly, whiling away my time by changing my amplifier plug, exercising my fingers and rubbing them in a sand box that I'd prepared earlier to harden my finger tips. I also of course practised my best moves in front of the mirror, using my other air guitar, but it was old and fading fast because my imagination had lost interest in it. All it had left was the hole in the middle and a couple of strings.
Well my new improved version finally arrived. I had my nose pressed up against the window when the van pulled up. When he handed it to me the post man remarked on how light it was and I replied that, yes it would be, it's an air guitar!
I was too impatient to take it inside so I laid it gingerly on the drive way, careful lest I damage it. Whoever wrapped it must've used a whole role of tape and there were around ten layers of bubble wrap so it took some time to open, but eventually I laid eyes on it.
It was spectacularly breathtaking and I remember thinking that I was an imaginational genius! That is until I became aware that my beautiful air guitar was rising up and off the packaging. I attempted to seize it but missed because it was moving rapidly. Soon it was too high for me to reach it and up it flew over the roof tops, up into the clouds and out of view.
I stood there with my mouth gaping and a solitary tear drop rolling down my cheek, and then realization dawned on me. It was a helium air guitar! I'd been conned and had paid good air money for it too.
The moral of my tale is that you should always check if the ebay seller has good ratings and isn't just full of hot air. Better still, when buying an air guitar or a real one go to a music shop, see it, touch it, taste it if you must but ensure that it's perfect!
One last thing to remember is that when your playing your air guitar it's always best to at least look as though you play proficiently because otherwise you'll just look silly!
