MP 3 format is a format of digital music which has smaller size compared with normal CD tracks, but it still has good quality of music. If in CD normally you can find about 10 to 15 normal music files, with MP3 you can have between 100 - 150 music files in one CD Rom. But basically MP3 is also just a file format with highly compresses form. Since MP3 files will not reduce the quality of the files, what you will her from MP3 sound output will be the same as a CD sound output quality.

The ability to put much more files in one CD probably become the first reason why MP3 files are now so popular among the music's listeners.

To play MP3 files, normally you need to use some kind of programs in your computer such as Windows Media Player or WinAmp. But nowadays there is also a device to play these MP3 files which is called MP3 player. Or some people choose to use iPod to listen to their favorite MP3 musics.

Where to get MP3 music files? Well,lots of people choose to download MP3s,then after that they will burn the files that they got from internet onto CDs. I still remember when I learned from my colleague about how to download MP3 musics from the internet. Using a kind of computer software program to download my favorite songs and musics from all over the world. But that was only to listen with my computer which also need to be connected with speaker and the computer itself need to have sound card hardware.

But some people probably still think that MP3 files is an illegal things. MP3 format itself is a legal thing. But there are people which are doing distribution of some MP3 files which has copyrighted without permission from the owner of the licenses. This is what we call illegal. But if you get your MP3 files from some record company who distribute the MP3 files with licenses, of course it is not illegal. And there are many record company do like that.

Nowadays, since MP3 files are very popular, some new discmans or walkmans model also design with the device which can play the MP3 files, so you don't need computer only to listen to your MP3 music files.
