One of many parents biggest concern is that homeschooling will make for shier kids, who have less social issues. Some parents struggle with this and others seem to have no problem. It should be noted that it is often the case that different kids have different struggles with this. However, with a little extra work, your kid can be just as socialized, if not more then those who go to school.
Field Trips.
Socialization often includes socializing with those of your own age group and those older or younger. Field trips can offer social situations for kids to experience interaction with both. You can go with the neighboring homeschool group, which can offer a lot of opportunities for making friends, growing relationships, and interacting. But, even going out on your own can offer your children the chance to interact with those that they come in contact with.
Get Involved.
Whether you get involved in a local church or you volunteer in your community you can offer your child the chance to interact with people of all ages. Volunteering is a great way to do this and can make for a growing respect for others, and for helping give back to the community as well.
Extra Curricular Activities.
Homeschool groups offer the opportunity to get involved in things outside the curricular activities, but so do many public schools. Your kid can get involved in speech groups who compete, sports, and other things. In addition to the things that can get involved in based on schools or homeschool groups, you can also have your kid take classes outside of these organizations. Dance, gymnastics, sports, crafts, arts, and others can all be taken in special classes or groups.
Play.
You can also take your children to the park, the y, and other places where kids are playing. They can work at getting to know other kids there and can have a lot of fun doing so. You can choose free locations or inexpensive options.
You can do a lot of fun things to get your children involved in a number of activities that will help your child get past any socialization issues that they may come across. Often it has a lot to do with who your child is. Be gentle in coaching them into getting out and about and making new friends. You can do it and it does not have to be hard.
