Short stories: Love

adult lives like you do."

She began to pull away from him and stepped up her pace.

"I didn't know you felt that way, Asya." He caught up with her and wrapped his arm around her waist and looked into her eyes. "Any man would be happy to take you for his wife," he said as he bent down to kiss her lips.

David thought of Asya as only a girlfriend, but then she gave him an unusual onyx and sterling silver ring for his birthday.

He told his sister, Mary, "She must be interested in being more than just my girlfriend. A ring is an intimate gift."

"Maybe it's not too late for me to get married and have children."

"It's not too late, David, but there is quite a difference in age. Only you will know if your relationship is strong enough to last."

The next day David called Asya, and asked, "How would you like to go out for sushi this Friday night?"

"I'd love it. What time should I meet you and where?"

"I'll be by here at 8:00 p.m. when you get off, and I'll pick you up. I can't wait. I'd love to wine and dine you, Asya," he said with a smile.

When Friday night came, Asya went into the back of the caf to change into her red silk dress. David walked in as she came back out.

"Hi Asya. What a knockout you are in that dress! Just in time. You'll like this place. It's a really hot spot, and the food is good. After dinner we can go out for espresso too and chat some more. I'm really going to enjoy tonight."

Asya felt his hand grasp hers gently. She felt like a princess as he escorted her through the doorway. She had spent a larger sum than she usually would to buy the dress she now wore just to impress David.

Suddenly David stopped and looked into Asya's eyes. "I've wanted to kiss you forever Asya. May I?"

Without answering Asya moved her lips close to David's and closed her eyes. She could feel her body temperature rise as they kissed.

David drove Asya in his Mercedes to the Flame Restaurant.

"Good evening, Mr. Cunningham," said the waiter. "This way to your table."

"Have a seat here, Asya," said David, as he pulled out her chair for her.

"Would you like me to order for you, Asya?"

"Yes, I would, David, the sushi and whatever else you're getting would be fine."

She was very hungry. She had been too nervous to eat anything for lunch, and the cafe had been busy. Asya and David held hands across the table. As Asya's blue eyes met David's gaze, she realized he reminded her of her lover in Russia. She had always preferred older men. They were like fine, aged wine.

"You're like a flower bud waiting to blossom, Asya, why would you want me other than for financial security, but that I would gladly give you."

"You are a very attractive man, very protective and attentive, and good at communicating with me. I love the way you treat me."

"Would you like to go for a Moonlight stroll on the beach?" David asked as he parted his lips with her.

"Yes David," I'd love that she replied.

David drove them to Manhattan Beach in Sheepshead Bay where he had grown up, which was beautiful as they strolled hand in hand under the Moonlight glow. Then Asya stopped and put her arms around David's waist, and asked, "please kiss me again?"

"I love you," David said as he held and kissed Asya passionately.

The beach was dark and deserted, as he slipped his hands inside the back of Asya's red silk dress. He felt the softness of her skin and smelled the fragrance of roses.

"Would you be mine always?" David felt his manhood deeply aroused as he pressed himself closer toward her.

"Yes, I would love to," Asya responded and pressed her open lips on his and wrapped her arms around his waist.
