Getting a new computer doesn't have to be a big hit in your wallet. You can get a cheap one for much less because of production costs. Let me explain. When a R&D Center makes a new breakthrough, they start producing something new that the market have never seen before. Companies do not risk producing huge amounts of something they dont know if it will be liked by the market. When a new processor comes, they have to change or replace many machines or even buy new ones. In the beginning they produce very little amounts of the new processor and that's why you see the best processors so expensive when they could be cheaper. Here is a small guide to help you making the best choice when you buy a new computer. Do not buy the most expensive one. Sometimes just 0.1 or 0.2 extra GHz makes the price raise up to 500$. I see this all the time. Of course that the 2.2 Ghz processor is faster than the 2.0 GHz processor but I bet you wont see the difference unless you use a special software to measure the performance and compare them. Of course the 2.0 GHz processor is about 200$ cheaper sometimes even more. The same goes for RAM. When a new piece of RAM comes out, for example when the 2 GB memories came, it was better to install on the machine two slots of 1 GB or even four of 512 MB. Now because of mass production of the 2 GB slots it's much more profitable to install 1 piece of just 2 GB. This is also absolutely true for graphic cards. When the new best one pops out to the market their prices are absolutely exaggerated for the performance gained compared to the older one. It's better to wait 3 months or a little more because usually drops for half or less. This is true for all the other equipment, but more for the processor and the graphic card. With all this said I hope sincerely you make a more intelligent choice when choosing your new computer. Check many online stores before deciding if you are really going to achete that model. Sometimes in your city the prices are much higher than they should be, This is true for small towns where the stores raise the price because of transportation costs. If you are comfortable buying online I recommend you to do it. It's always cheaper than going to your usual store.
