Costs of a gambling lifestyle

The costs of a gambling lifestyle are numerous not just the financial sense of gambling. The gambling covers a wide range of sporting and non sporting events.

There are 2 forms of gamblers compulsive gamblers who are obssessed with gambling, and the professional players who might wager on a sporting outcome once every 2 or 3 months or perhaps a year. Casino and other bingo related sites also come into this category of gambling.

So what are the costs of gambling? Well a person may start his or her career gambling going to a betting shop or online bookmaker. In the person's own mind is the need to take part and win money, so that a winning selection on a horse event or football match will pay the bills, or a new holiday abroad, or it might pay for 1 weeks grocery spend in the store. This is the mental approach and compulsive gambler's mentality this need to gamble. They will start placing a wager starting off in small stakes lets say each event. If they lose then from becomes a much greater amount. Even if winning at first the pay off for having 2 or 3 losing wagers pushes the wagering spend for the next event even higher.

From a relatively low level of risk taking becomes a much more strict regime of following horse racing events, reading the daily sports newspapers, looking up horse race card and selection tips and comments. So here is spending lots of time, which should be spent looking after yourself, on a personal hygiene basis, looking after kids, studying, or more normal life activities. So the human social cost is a non financial cost of a gambling lifestyle.

Some people may also get lured into going to a horseracing, sporting event that would be used as an excuse to wager big amounts of money. The artificial thrill of this lifestyle, the false sense of security it places by attending such old fashioned live events. The entrance fee charged again is another cost, albeit in direct financial cost of gambling, and following a sport.

Then the pain of backing a horse, that is beaten by a short neck, or head is another shock to the system. The horse may be hit by the jockey which stops the horse travelling as well, or it falls down a hurdle at a time when it is miles in front of the field. I am happy when the horse is 10 lengths ahead of it's nearest pursuer. Though when it loses or when things dont go well, i am gutted. My heart pounds irrationally, i have lost x number My main problem as a gambler is that i have to win back the money i have lost previously
