Buying a new computer today is cheaper than ever before. Some years ago we had to spend more thn 10000 to get a computer slower than a 286sx. Now things changed. We no longer accept such CPU speeds or hard disks that can store at most our first name. Computer are the fastest evolving industry. Their speed, capacity and prices continue to improve every single day and now laptops reached prices never thought possible some years ago. Now the only problem is: Should I get a laptop or a desktop?

My opinion says you must get the laptop. I used a desktop computer for more than 10 years and I can tell you that when I bought the laptop where I am writting this text right now my entire life changed. Even better if you add mobile internet to it! Now I can use my computer everywhere even in places with no electricity! I can play my favorite games where I want, with my friends, I can write to Helium on the comfort of my bed in pajamas or with even with no pajamas! So cool. I also can listen to music with the phones with the same quality as a desktop and I dont need the iPod anymore! I take my computer in my brief case with the phones connected and playing. There are no words to describe what I feel about replacing my desktop with my laptop. Its amazing. You must try for yourself to see the difference.

Now buying the laptop. There are hundreds of models and technical features you probably have no idea about what they mean. Thats bad because you can be easily marketed. Let my explain to you about the basic of a computer and how to buy a good one for a great price.

A laptop has a CPU where all the information is processed. Its the brain of the computer. Everything that you make in the computer uses the CPU. Its the most important feature of the entire system. Get the fastest you can. I recommend the new Core 2 DUO with 2 GHz or more. If you buy an AMD or a weaker Intel processor maybe you save some money but I guarantee you that you will waste a lot of time waiting for the computer to load the webpages, to load the documents. Next we have RAM. This is the memory of the computer. You can never have too much RAM. After the CPU this is the most important feature is the memory. The hard disk is not fast enough to catch up with the CPU, so the CPU needs something else. This is where RAM comes in. Its the middle man between the CPU and the Hard Disk. When you do not have enough memory, the entire computer becomes slower, buggy, unreliable and crashes much more often.

For a graphic card I do not recommend any motherboard built in one. Any Nvidia or ATI is better.
