I'm going to assume that we are speaking of "danger" in terms of death and violence. That assumption may seem ignorant, but from my experiences as an American, most people are extremely shallow-minded and believe this to be the only definition of danger, regardless of the fact that it could easily be the most irrelevant meaning of them all.
Religion does not have the capacity to produce danger. The danger lies solely on the shoulders of the flawed human being. I don't know of a religion that supports war, or killing, or stealing, or any act that could be associated with danger. Wars happen, but they do not happen as a result of religion, not even if you call the war a "crusade". Religion has been tied to so many wars and acts of sheer terrorism because of extremely damaged comprehension of what religion is. Religious people are very strong in their convictions, so when a conflict arises that is centered on religion or as a cause of, they are not quick to abandon those beliefs but instead they are strengthened by them, which is easily understandable, but the problem originates from misinterpretations and essential aphorisms that were lost in translation, so to speak.
You always see and hear Christians in America, especially Mormons, who's biggest religious exercise is witnessing. They travel the world trying to convert as many people as they possibly can.(Does this not sound like a commercial business to you? I guess some of the roots of organized religion are still a little to strong to sever) Religion pertains solely to the individual. It's completely internal. It's about the individual's relationship with their God, as they know him. It is no one's business what another person's view of religion is. Most Christians live, and consequently die, by the "Great Commission". You must be aware that any interpretation of a bible verse, or any writing for that matter, could be completely off base. That could very easily be the case here, considering that no one currently on earth was there at the time, and especially with this verse, because, of the fact that we were not one of the Eleven Apostles, we can't exactly expect to be able to determine his meaning without being familiar with the nuances of his speech while conversing with friends, not to mention the number of authors this text passed through before it arrived at it's current state in this current day. With every word of Christ, we can only believe what it means to us personally.
