Organizing paperwork is as important for every household as it is for large and small businesses alike. Every household has various types of paperwork that needs to be organized such as household bills, tax information, mail, school slips or forms, travel documents, insurance information, medical information, recipes and much more. Organizing all the household paperwork doesn't have to be a difficult task and is simple to maintain.
A good way to start is to determine the types of paperwork that you have within your household. Collect all paperwork and divide into categories. The most common household paperwork categories include the following:
Banking & Investments - This includes bank statements, bank account information as well as the contact information for your banker, investment information such as stocks or IRAs.
Bills - This category holds the obvious household bills such as utilities, Internet, telephone, car payments and other monthly or annual bills.
Car Maintenance - Here you'll keep recipes and reminders for all repairs, tune-ups, oil changes and other maintenance related receipts and information. This is also a great place to keep a copy of your car insurance documentation and contact information for the persons or businesses you use to service your vehicle.
Household Maintenance - Just like the above category this is where you will place all information and recipes for the upkeep and services rendered on or in your home. This is also a good place to keep home insurance documentation as well.
Medical & Medicinal Information - This is an important category where you should keep information about medical conditions suffered by anyone within your household as well as the informative sheets that come with any medications that may be taken by anyone in the household. This is also a good place to keep copies of any health insurance policies for everyone in the home.
Pet Veterinary Information - This category is for those who have pets in the home. It's important to keep veterinary and health information and records for your pets as well as contact information for your vet and emergency numbers.
Recipes - This category is optional but very handy. Keep any favorite recipes or recipes you would like to try stored within this category for easy access.
School/Activity Information & Slips - For those with children this category can be a real time saver! This is the perfect category for school and activity contact
