however Nintendo pulled, this caused a bad business relationship between Nintendo and Sony.
In 1998 Sega released their Dreamcast and discontinued the Saturn and Nintendo decided to fight back against the ever so popular Sony Playstation with the release of the Nintendo 64, no other consoles came out until 2000.
Then in 2000 Sony released the Playstation 2 which was the first ever console to be able to play DVDs and again Nintendo decided to fight back with the release of the GameCube, but by now a major computer company known as Microsoft had their eye on this industry and wanted to make a stand by releasing the first generation Xbox.
This bring's me to the present, on November 22, 2005 Microsoft released the Xbox 360 and was the first ever console to support HDTV, but in the 5 years Sony was not about to give up to Microsoft or Nintendo they were buying there time and perfecting their technologies right up until November 11th, 2006 when they released the Sony Playstation 3.
The Playstation 3 comes with a hard drive, ready to use Blue-Ray video discs and games straight out of the box, there controllers are connected with Bluetooth and are tilt-sensitive, in my personal opinion the Playstation 3 is going to go down in history as the console that destroys the Microsoft Xbox.
Last but not least Nintendo released there Wii on November 19th, 2006 but does not appear to be a threat to Microsoft or Sony's consoles, in a personal note I believe Nintendo made the right market choice and focused more on cartoony games for younger people while Microsoft and Sony are left to fight over the older generation of Gamers.
So I hope this was not too long for anyone but do you see the kind of Video Game Console war that was started way back in the early 1980's? I like to think of this as a good thing being a consumer because we see the prices dropped quicker when there is more competition. ;)
