Will I kill after playing some button-bashing game?

No, I will turn it off and do something else, so why do most people still believe that gaming is the root to all evil? That's an easy one to tell the truth, people always have to blame something or someone to justify their negative actions.

Children.
If your teen goes out and breaks a window, would you really start blaming Animal Crossing for the reason of your child's anger, yes you may if you knew nothing of the game. Gaming is not the reason your kid could be out of control, the reason is more likely the lack of interest you show in what your child is doing? I've seen many parents in a gaming shop with their youngster, not having a clue about the game that they are about to buy for their ten year old, just to shut your kid up for a few minutes of peace you'll buy it.

You must take an active role in what your child sees and does; it's up to you as the parent to read reviews and learn more about what games are out there that you think will be suitable for your young ones. Try taking the time to sit and play a game with them, don't leave them shut up in a room playing games for hours on their own; if you do this it could be fun for both you and your child without them knowing that you have been in control.

You cannot blame a game shop for the reason your kid could be playing GTA if you are the one that was the giver of the money; or you have not even entered the kids' room for a month to see what's in there. I cannot say that doing the above is going to make you raise a great human being, but let's be real if you are worried about the gaming side of it all, the above is the only answer to easing your worries. Deciding not to buy a console or banning your child from playing games will not keep them away from playing as I'm sure many of their friends will have some kind of console in their homes.

Adult.
This is a hard one, for reasons you cannot really control an adult, but if you think banning a game is going to stop this human from committing a crime well you are very mistaken. Most killers have from a very young age the feeling or desire to harm and if you look at many of our well know serial killers, they did not have a PS3 or Wii back then; so what can you blame now? I cannot tell you the reasons why another human feels the need to hurt another, but if it's all down to gaming, then I'm sure my friends and I would have a few deaths under our belts already and we don't.

We as adults are in control of what we do or don't do and if someone chooses to hurt someone, it's them that have to take the whole responsibility. If we are to blame games, TV and Music, then every book that has been written in the name of a religion should be banned also, how many people kill and much more doing it in the name of their faith?

Mental Illness.
People that suffer from an illness are a different matter and still if you say a game could set them off then you could be right, but so can a TV show like the Simpsons, a book like Harry Potter. If we are to start worrying like this, then everything from this site to a simple children's program should also be banned.

Well if we carry on blaming everything but ourselves for what actions we do, then we are to stay in a life of doom and gloom, there is no devil making you do something, because if there was? Why would you still continue doing it knowing it's wrong? We do things because we want to no matter who we walk over. We as humans have something that no other life form on the planet has, a choice, and after many hours of fun playing a game I have chosen to write this.
