Alternative Medicines For Anxiety And Depression
There are generally two different kinds of anxiety disorders. There is chronic anxiety, and there are panic attacks. People who suffer from chronic anxiety suffer from continuous feelings of foreboding, as though something horrible were going to happen any minute, or around ever corner; severe reoccurring worry, accompanied by some physical sense as well.
However, a panic attack is much different. It comes on quickly and at once. Many people mistake a panic attack for a heart attack, or the beginnings of a mild seizure. It can feel as though one is not able to breathe, or is not able to breathe in fully as they would normally. At times, the symptoms can disperse just as suddenly as they begin, which can be even more frightening for the person experience the panic attack. Psychiatrists and medical professionals that have researched anxiety disorders, suggest that people suffering from anxiety disorders, or panic attacks, may have central nervous systems that overreact to stressful, or emotional situations, and take a much longer time to calm down, in comparison to most other people.
Panic attacks usually occur after an upsetting incident of some kind, such as losing a loved one, sudden fear, an accident, an injury, divorce, death, and generally stressful sudden events; but at other times, they may come on for no reason whatsoever, without a catalyst of any sort. It has also been speculated that there may be a biochemical cause of panic attacks. Reports and studies made by physicians and psychiatrists have shown that people who have panic attacks easily, usually have higher levels of lactic acid in their blood, which is a chemical generated by muscles who metabolize a lot of sugar, without much oxygen. Another, more logical, and simpler cause, some studies say, is that panic attacks are caused by over-production of stress hormones in the brain, and in the adrenal glands.
Believe it or not, you can use Catnip tea, to relieve stress and anxiety. Fennel tea soothes an upset stomach, and gastrointestinal discomfort. A tincture of Kava, taken orally can help to slow, and reduce anxiety, and its effects. Hops also has a calming, soothing effect on the nervous system, helping to alleviate stress, as does Motherwort, which also helps to stabilize and calm one's emotions. St. John's Wort, can help return the emotions to become more stable as well, but also ease symptoms of depression. Passion Flower, in a tea, or tincture,
