An Eye For Beauty

Wax on and rip the hairs off, could it be any simpler than that? Why not start a career in Beauty Therapy in your own home, it's one of the best decisions I have succeeded to do. The only pre-requisite required besides proper training, is a sadistic nature that loves inflicting pain on voluntary victims. Of course, I am joking about being sadistic, although on the serious side imagine being your own boss with flexible hours, which are fantastic especially if you have a young child/children as I do. So to begin this new journey of beautifying the towns population, you need an area with enough space to be comfortable in, a spare room that's neat and tidy would be perfect.

The basic furniture you need can be bought secondhand from auctions, beauty salons closing or even secondhand shops and garage sales. The equipment to look out for is a beauty bed, nothing fancy with gas hydraulics like a dentist chair, just a standard bed with a hole at one end for massaging. A desk for manicures and acrylic nails, one you can sit opposite your clients and work comfortably from, also a few shelves to put products on. Two wax pots one for leg waxing and one for hard wax used for the face, underarms and bikini. An appointment book, which I find useful especially if you would like to be organized and know when clients will be turning up.

Enrolling into a course depends on what type of schooling you would prefer or are able to do. Living out of the city in a rural community can make traveling to a beauty school difficult, nowadays the solution has already been solved for you. Correspondence courses are readily available and are fairly self explanatory. You may only need to attend the school for exams, or once every few months to train for a couple of days, to make sure your techniques are being performed correctly.

After completing the course and to gain confidence with the procedures, you may wish to bribe your friends to be test guinea pigs. If they won't come voluntarily then grab a lasso, drag them onto the bed and use restraints if necessary. Now you're ready for the real world so spread the word, its one of the greatest forms of advertising or even put an ad in the local newspaper.

Legally before your first client comes through the door, you have to ring the tax department as you will be earning an income and need to apply for an ABN(Australian business number). A business name will need to be registered, also contact the shire they need details and a yearly payment to operate from home. Don't be discouraged by all this, it's not as difficult as it sounds and the end result is amazingly satisfying and achievable.

Other wonderful benefits operating from home besides making extra money, is the social aspect especially if your a housewife with children and don't get a lot of free time to escape from the everyday routines of life. Hopefully, you will embrace your new exploration into the beauty world and enjoy it as immensely as I continue too, as being pampered is a luxury we all need to indulge ourselves with more often.
