The best superpower for a superhero

by Veronica Beaudry

Created on: March 26, 2008

There is a large quantity of great superpowers to choose from. So which one is best? Which one would I want? It usually depends on what I want to be able to do at the time.

Flying is my favorite power. I tend to really like superheroes who can fly. I have always loved Superman. My favorite thing about Rogue is her ability to fly and after I found out that Wonder Woman also flies, Lynda Carter's version didn't, I lover her that much more. While I love this power, there are others that could be very useful.

As a teacher, super hearing or x-ray vision could really come in handy sometimes. With x-ray vision I could catch the kids that are hiding things. Super hearing would make it easier to tell who was talking at time when they are supposed to be quiet. It would also be helpful in situations where kids are being bullied or arguing. Since some kids act in a different way when adults are around, the powers of x-ray vision, super hearing and even invisibility would allow me to observe without affecting the outcome. I could gather the necessary information to deal with the problem without having to play the "he said, she said" game.

Being able to teleport would also be really nice. It would be so great to not have to worry about parking or traffic. I could sleep in later and still get to work on time.

I have had lots of times that I was really comfortable on the couch and found myself needing a tissue or the remote. At times like those telekinesis would have been great.

When I started to watch the NBC show "Heroes" I thought that Hiro's ability to transport himself through time was pretty cool. I find the idea of time travel in general to be very interesting. He can also stop time, which would be really nice, especially if I need some time to think when a lesson is not going well.

Since I can't really decide which superpower is the best I choose them all. I choose the ability to absorb other powers. But I wouldn't want Rogue's version of this power. Her ability is really more of a curse. To never be able to feel a person's touch and not be able to have a romantic relationship is not something I would want. I would want to be like Peter Petrelli on Heroes. As he meets people with powers he is able to absorb them and use them whenever he needs to. If I had his power, then I would have all sorts of powers at my disposal.
