Sea ice is thinning rapidly and as the sun's rays penetrate these thin layers of ice the oceans continue to heat, causing unusual weather patterns. Ice cover has become so thin that it would take several harsh winters and cooler summers to correct the damage caused by global warming.

Considering the rapid melting and possible consequences, satellite data just isn't enough. Scientists are now braving the frozen wilderness to get deep core samples to see just how bad it really is. Antarctic ice sheets are melting faster than predicted and a number of scientists believe that sea levels could pose a far worse threat than previously thought. Several regions could turn very cold or very hot very fast which could result in mass migration, famine, disease, and much conflict.

Poor countries are already struggling with serious clean water and food shortages. What's more, due to modern transportation, diseases for which there is no cure are already traveling around the world before countries have a chance to close their borders. Earthquakes and tsunamis are not only becoming more frequent they are getting more intense.

Other planets are experiencing global warming as well which leads many to believe that the planetary alignment which is supposed to be complete by December 21, 2012 could be associated with it.

"And there shall be signs; in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring; Men's hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth... For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be."

Is global warming as bad as it's made out to be? It seems inconceivable that so many scientists worldwide could be wrong.

Considering the rapid progress of global warming perhaps we should prepare for stronger storms, colder winters and hotter summers. Common sense dictates the need to be prepared for difficult times but there are some things we simply cannot prepare for. If global warming increases to the point of catastrophic climatic upheavals, no one could survive no matter how well prepared.

Rather than go off the deep end, stockpiling mountains of water and groceries that have to be rotated regularly, stock a reasonable amount that you and your family would need in the event of an emergency. Likely as not, you know the kinds of emergency situations your area could be subjected to and you know what you will need and how to prepare for it.

Some of the greatest minds in the world are locked in disagreement over global warming which suggests that nobody really knows for sure just how bad it is. Trying to research it and sort out all of the facts can be mind-boggling. It seems sensible at this point to stay reasonably prepared, keep an eye on the situation and take it one day at a time.

However, it may be wise to consider what the Bible says. Jesus Christ plainly spoke of these things in Matt. 24, Mark 13, and Luke 21.

"For as a snare shall it come on all them that dwell on the face of the whole earth. Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man." (Luke 21)
