Have you ever gone to a baseball game? Many Americans have, or at least viewed a baseball game on television, but have you ever thought about collecting baseball cards? If not, you may want to think twice.
Baseball card collecting is like its own sub-culture. Although baseball cards are most popular in America, Japan, Canada, and Cuba, you can bet that it has legions of fan's. Collecting baseball card's is very family friendly, in fact most people don't know that it's something you can do to teach children the value of money.
I bet you have a puzzled look on your face right now, you can't believe that baseball cards would have any value, correct? Well the thing is, some of them are printed in limited quantity's, and thus sought after by collector's who are willing to pay good money for these cards in question.
You may be surprised to know that not only can you collect these cards, but earlier baseball cards could be used for games as well.
Now your probably wondering how these games were played, this is where it gets a bit interesting. Lets go over some of the games.
*Colors
Players 2-6
This game is very simple, each of the players is going to need a deck to start out with. These decks must be equal, decide who must go first then that player must flip over the top card on his deck. Pay attention to the color of the team, now the next player flips his or her top card over and places it on top of the first players card.
Perhaps the color of the cards doesn't match, the first player turns over another card and places it on the pile. If that card match's the card before it, then the first player wins both of those cards.
On the other hand, if second players card's color does match then the second player has to take both of the cards and put them at the bottom of his or her deck, thus he is the winner of that round. This continues on till someone has all the cards, and thus is the winner.
*Tossing
Players 2-5
This game is very simple, all you need is for the players to agree on how many cards will be used each round. After that, find a wall that you can throw the cards at, try to make sure that this place is somewhat sheltered from the wind.
Agree on how far back everyone will stand, and then each player takes turns throwing their card at the wall. The players card that lands closest wins that round, very simple stuff. Of course the player with the best overall score wins the game.
*Flipping
Players 2
Last but not least, another very simple game for two players. Each player stands up and holds his or her card to their side, and then drops it. It's almost like coin flipping, if the card is face up then its head's, if the card is face down then its tails.
If do not match, the first player takes the cards. However if they do match, the second player takes both cards. Of course this goes on till someone has all the cards, and they are the winner.
