Reasons for reading the Bible

Your time is never wasted reading the Bible. This is a subtle fact, but perception of it is not required to see a benefit. I have never understood the concept of faith. When I was a materialist (believing only in sense data) I held the belief that God was a fictitious and childish concept held by stubborn people who are disregarding the significance of reality and science. Now that I am an idealist (I comprehend of the role thought, or idea, plays in the building of reality) I understand it and can explain it.

The faculty of faith in the mind produces positive thought in an object in relation to that object's own minds other faculties inability to produce positive thought in relation to an object. Faith will produce positive thought in relation to an object (religion in this case) regardless of all other data being produced by the minds other faculties such as it's reason, understanding, memory, etc..

Faith is valuable because it connects a being with God, who exists beyond reason. The role a being plays in God is significant. You must will for God to help you. From God's perspective reality is a performance. From your perspective God is the brilliant and good author. He operates about chance and the hearts and minds of other beings, re-ordering your path towards him into a pleasant and peaceful one.

My accidental encounter with a sensual fact that contradicted all of reality had the result of causing me to re-examine everything. There are now many concepts which are no longer relevant to me. My lack of understanding now makes it difficult for me to explain certain things to other beings which at one time were all explainable by science. All that I can say is that until science becomes capable of objectively proving the existence of God and explaining other spiritual systems such as Buddhism, faith will be valuable to many.

The Bible is a reminder of man's past and the depths of horror man is capable of sinking to if he is not careful. It is worthy of being used in schools as a teaching aid, if you are teaching about the Bible. It is also the oldest book of statues that are still morally relevent today. The book has also had an impact on all of North American culture and all of Enlish literature.
