The QuietPoint ATH-ANC7 Noise-Cancelling headphones are one of the best headphones available on the market today. They do not match to Bose's QuietComfort series headphones, but for half the price of the QuietComfort 2, they are well worth the money. The ATH-ANC7 delivers perfect, clear sound, blocks out almost all background noise possible, and fits comfortably on the ear.
The noise cancelling component is amazing and truly blocks out background noise to a great degree. The noise-cancelling device is built right into the headphones and requires only one AAA battery. The company states that it blocks out 85% of background noise, but this number truly means nothing to the typical user. However, after being tested on environments such as a bus, plane, and numerous rooms, the headphones surpassed expectations. You will be guaranteed to get lost in whatever you are listening to and forget all about what is going around you. It successfully blocks out low noise from vents or other machines completely, and greatly diminishes voices, music, engines, or any other sorts of disturbing sounds. Using the headphones solely to block annoying noises when trying to sleep will work relatively well.
As for comfort and presentation, the ATH-ANC7 delivers as well. The headphones might start bothering your ears, but only after a couple hours of use. They also come in a great looking semi-hard case and the headphones themselves look quite professional. The audio cable is detachable and the headphones also include a " adapter as well as a special adapter for use in flight (in order to connect them to the in-flight entertainment systems). These little extras are a welcome addition to the already great pair of headphones.
The main problem with the headphones is sound leakage. You might not find this such a big issue, but trust me it is. When the headphones are not worn and the volume is set to high, the sound volume from them is almost identical to those on some laptop speakers. However, as long as you keep the volume reasonably low, the sound leakage is a fixable problem. The sound coming from them might not be as enjoyable because of the low volume, but it does suffice for instances when the sound might bother someone else in a quiet room.
Other than that small issue, this set of headphones is amazing and well worth the price if you cannot afford a set of Bose QuietComfort headphones. You can find them at www.amazon.com for $120.
