Taking a time out

Taking time out is something that we take for granted. As a child we are forced to think about our decisions in the corner as we anxiously wait for the clock to strike that certain point that frees us from our imprisonment. I don't know how many times I really thought about anything except what I was going to do after mom let me go back to playing. Looking back, those few minutes left alone in the corner contemplating my mistakes instilled the ability to step back in later life and breath a breath of fresh air.

Stress, fatigue, and overwhelming emotion all push us into a frenzy from time to time. Every once in a while a person should take their own time out. Be it a day, an hour, or a week. Any timeframe that puts us back at ground zero. I myself struggle with life's conflicting moments and know that taking time for myself is crucial in success. Why not take five minutes of thinking and relaxation, opposed to two hours of stress and confusion?

The reason we have to do this is because in modern life their isn't time to process everything that's being thrown at us. Our jobs, family's, and finances dictate our action, without the ability to make a well thought out decision on how to react. Yet, all my life I've heard people say, "Stop and smell the roses", and I still believe the general public does the opposite, getting caught up in the rat race and living life in the fast lane.

If good things take time then we should take time to do good things. Why rush through life, we only get one, as far as I know. Take time out to take in the surroundings. Enjoy your family and occupation. The fast lane might be where it's at, but personally I would rather pull off into the rest area time to time and prevent an accident.

So next time your watching the clock waiting to be freed from your job, remember that all the time you spend waiting is time that could be better used. Use your time to take in life around you. Relax and forget the anxious feeling that you need to be someplace. Frustration and anger aren't going to speed up time, so sit back, think deep, and enjoy your time out.
