Before we dismiss crop circles as mere pranks and hoaxes we should take a much closer look at cases in which these strange and elaborate designs have appeared overnight and in some instances, spontaneously.
These images are just too complex and intricate to have been created by people. Sure, get enough guys together with the right equipment and it's possible to make a crop circle, but the results would be far from perfect, and it would most likely take several hours or days to complete. Most of these bizarre formations which have been found are reportedly flawless, with not a single corn stalk standing, much less broken within the circular boundary. The edges are sharp and precise, and the measurements are exact on all sides.
Now, I won't pretend to be an expert but after everything I've seen and read about this phenomenon I can't help but believe there are more powerful forces at work here. What kind of machine could produce these kinds of images in such a short period of time? On August 11, 1996 there was a photographer who got some footage of an unidentified object hovering over Oliver's Castle near Devizes, England. According to the story, it took eighteen seconds for a crop circle to appear adjacent to the structure.
There are other unexplainable aspects about crop circles which I think you would admit are puzzling and slightly unsettling. An assortment of electronic devices, namely mobile phones and cameras, seem to be inoperable when standing within a crop circle. There have been reports of aircraft experiencing mechanical failures when flying over these formations, and radio frequencies fluctuate wildly when near, or inside the crop circle.
Skeptics would argue that those who believe in UFOs, or who want to believe in them enough, are being given exactly what they want to see. However, I think the individuals who believe crop circles are being created by UFOs are not totally delusional or crazy.
Assuming that extraterrestrial technology is as advanced as we think it is, they would be capable of almost anything. If they can travel faster than light, then crop circles wouldn't be too much of a difficult undertaking.
Perhaps this is a form of communication, but the message is still vague and misunderstood. I think it's a mistake to classify these unusual designs as fakes so quickly. Until we have a definitive answer, let's store this in the "unsolved" section of the paranormal file cabinet.
