Alien vs Predator? Who cares. Jason vs Freddy? Big deal. Batman vs Spiderman...now we are talking. If DC Comics and Marvel ever got together this would probably be the best possible match-up for both sides. Spiderman and Batman (along with Superman) are the most recognizable not in just terms of name recognition but appearance wise as well. Who would win? Let's match them up.

To start, lets compare the two in terms of their powers. First, your friendly neighborhood Spiderman has the ability to cling on and scale walls, possesses super human strength and speed, a sixth sense (spider-sense) which alerts him to impending danger, perfect dexterity and balance, shoot very powerful webbing, and is one of the most intelligent and witty of the superheroes. Now for Batman. The Dark Knight is an expert in several forms of martial arts, weaponry, gadgets and is a technical genius. Batman is also very intelligent but what truly separates the two is Batman's cunning and guile. In addition, Bruce Wayne is a billionaire with near limitless resources. Both, Batman and Spiderman, can be hurt by ordinary weapons.

This fight would be a true chess match as neither has the extraordinary abilities that other superheroes have and both would pin their hopes on trapping the other by outwitting them. Both would rely heavily on the gadgets and gizmo's they possess either on their person or attached to their superhero suit. I give the edge to Batman in this department.

In ending, although I think this would be a great battle of superheroes I would give the overall edge to the Dark Knight. Although Spiderman may have an edge in terms of sheer genius and an edge in the physical department the fact is that Bruce Wayne is an angry billionaire who is not beyond fighting dirty if he has to. That guile combined with a vast array of weaponry makes me believe that Batman would have an edge in a heads up battle between the two. I have yet to see the same level of intensity from Spiderman. Besides if Mary Jane came calling I firmly believe that Spiderman would leave the battlefield in a heartbeat. Nuff Said.
