Achieve your goal of helping others by instilling your knowledge

Throughout history many people have derived ultimate happiness by helping others through the knowledge they've attained. From parents teaching everyday skills to their children to community members assisting their fellow neighbors to great philosophers who have influenced for centuries, helping others and instilling and acquiring knowledge is easily achievable.

Socrates, a Greek philosopher, strongly influenced his students to derive knowledge from continuous understanding, insight, and thought. Socrates taught the concepts of questioning, examining, and describing while demonstrating how each of these methods should be used to deepen inquiry to solidify or reformulate one's beliefs.

The Socratic Method is a valuable tool to instill knowledge while helping others learn and engage in meaningful, life-long learning. Socratic questioning allows two or more people to examine an inquiry as if it were an original answer.

The opportunity to share knowledge can be accomplished during meal times. Asking a question and waiting for responses while modeling methods of reformulating your question, reexamining your own ideas, and allowing each individual at the table to do the same, is an ideal time to achieve your goal of sharing knowledge.

Sitting in a car and driving to the market is another opportunity to participate in instilling and receiving knowledge. Car drives allow for questioning and contributions of stimulating conversation to occur.

Because passengers in a vehicle are in close proximity and have a closeness which allows for conversation, bringing up conundrums which may have you perplexed will get other passengers involved in the puzzling circumstance. This driving occasion will allow time to feel as if it has gone quickly while each person will be sharing knowledge.

After watching a movie, reading a book, or playing a game, giving and receiving of knowledge can continue. These moments are opportune times to inquire about what was the best part, who had a more pertinent role, what was the value, or how can events be changed to make the movie, the book, or the game better.

Knowledge shared after entertaining events such as movies or games leads to learning how to analyze, evaluate, and synthesize. Sharing and instilling knowledge becomes an all-encompassing teaching and learning time which doesn't feel as if either party is at school.

If your goal is to help others with awareness, remember that instilling knowledge and taking part in a reciprocal learning situations can occur at the park while walking the dog, at the grocery store while waiting in line, or even during a phone conversation or text message. Teaching and learning is continuous and can always be accomplished.

Posing questions, instilling knowledge while gaining awareness, and achieving your goals can easily be obtained through the Socratic Method.
