Best Educational Tools for Early Childhood

Early Childhood Educators

The parents/caregivers have to take an active part from the beginning to interest children in learning. Make learning fun from the ABC song to counting out grapes or cheerios.... If your child has your undivided attention and you are smiling while they are learning it sets the stage for "learning is fun". Talking to your children while for a walk about the surroundings and helping them name objects is a GREAT way for them to learn. Flashcards are useful as are refrigerator letters and numbers for early learning. Crayons and paper go a long way for sparking creativity and imagination.

Early Childhood Education

As above, parents and caregivers are important. It is also important to check out where you are leaving your child for the day. Is it more of a day care environment or a nursery school? The school my son went to and my daughter is in now teaches by doing. It is Montessori based but luckily without the price tag that comes with a lot of Montessori schools. Some of the best play toys are play food so they can understand fruits, vegetables, cooking, etc. Puzzles appropriate for their age in size and number of pieces. Picture books where they can start to identify with the pictures and put names to them.

Computers for Children

There are MANY computer games for children that are educational and fun. There are really simple ones to learn mouse skills such as Reader Rabbit Preschool. There are fun read-alongs to your favorite kid's books like Dr. Suess's "Green Eggs and Ham" which allows your child to be read to or to follow along and interact with the story. There are ones that teach a myriad of learning skills such as "Clifford's Learning Activities, Thinking Things and "Dr. Suess's Preschool Learning". Then there are art programs such as Kid Pix and Protozone's Kaleidodraw.

Bulletin Boards

Free Online Learning

There are MANY kid friendly online sites to visit for early childhood. Nick Jr. allows your child to play games involving their favorite TV characters. Buy your child a $6 Webkinz (GANZ stuffed animal) and you get access to lots of games and activities as they care for their animal at webkinz.com. Poisson Rouge is a fun learning site with very untraditional games. There is no shortage of online sites and ones without ads are preferable so your child does
