Human imperfection

Human Imperfection is a accurate set of words for this article. This has to do with female imperfection in reproduction. Here is a story that turns out to be a miracle. A woman finds that she is pregnant and is ecstatic about it. Twelve weeks in to the pregnancy she finds out that her cervix is too short and needs to undergo a procedure to insert a cerclage to hold the cervix shut to carry the baby to term. She undergoes the procedure and it holds until she is 23 1/2 weeks, then while driving a car she starts having contractions and goes to the hospital. They give her a shot to stops the contractions and keep her for a couple of hours to make sure it works and then send her home to rest. After approximately 4-6 hours the contractions start again and she is scared because she remembers her first child that was still born for this same reason 1 year and 4 days earlier. She goes back to the hospital and they try again to stop the contractions and keep her overnight. It doesn't work.

They send her to a bigger and better hospital because she is 17 1/2 weeks too early to deliver. They take her into the delivery room and prep her and then they cut the cerclage and her water broke and then the baby started to come. There was no time to spare he was coming with a vengeance. She was at the hospital for about a half an hour before delivery so there really was no time to spare. So the baby came and they had to immediately had to give him oxygen and start working on him.

The baby was on heart monitors and oxygen in a tent for the first three months of his life. He went through numerous tests and had Hydrocephalus (water on the brain) draining it was getting them nowhere. The doctors tell the new mother "your baby needs to have a VP Shunt placed in the right side of his head with tubing running down into his belly and he couldn't play any contact sports when he reached school age. The parents had to be careful that the shunt didn't get hit too hard. They had to be more careful than usual with an infant and toddler. The baby had his first operation at two and a half months. The doctors also told her that he was having seizures which were caused by the hydrocephalus and hopefully after surgery the seizures would go away. They also told her that he had a double hernia and his eyes may need surgery and he would have to see a specialist for that. So during his stay in the NICU the doctors were also concerned about him having braidacardia's which is where his heart stops in
