How to fold a burrito

A burrito seems simple, yes? Well, not until you have to refold your burrito that you got from a restaurant to put some hot sauce in there! Or you could just be making burritos at home. Still! You may be looking at your burrito thinking, 'what in the world?.'

This doesn't have to be hard people. Let me help you with this. I've been working at Taco Bell so long that folding burritos has become habit. I've broken it down into a step-by-step process. I really hope this helps!

Process:

1. Make sure your burrito is laying flat with the ingredients spread in a lengthwise 'pile.' Don't let it just sit in the center.

2. Take the edge of the burrito and fold it over the fillings, smearing as you pull the edge back. Keep bringing the edge back but stop about with about an inch still in your hands. Don't let go

3. Next, with your other hand, bring the bottom part of the burrito and fold it over the ingredients. When you have done this, 'tuck' the tortilla against the ingredients. This keeps the burrito from being too loose in the end.

4. There may be a small bit of tortilla hanging out on the side towards the very end of the burrito. Fold this over.

5. Being sure your burrito is nice and tight, (because of the 'tucking you did earlier), roll your burrito up/forward. Be sure you are also making sure the burrito stays tight as you roll.

6. And finally, there will still be an open end, with no fillings, at the other end of the burrito, simply fold this over and voila! Your burrito is wrapped!

This process however, can defiantly take a while before it is perfected, it took me months, but nevertheless, I was always able to fold them correctly at least.

In addition, if you want to wrap the burrito in some foil, the same process described above will give yo the same results.

Here are some additional tips:

1. Always make sure the tortilla is hot or somewhat moist, a hard or crunchy-like tortilla wont fold correctly and can rip and tear. A good idea would be to put a damp a paper towel on the tortilla and place the tortilla in the microwave for ten seconds (on a plate of course!).

2. Make sure your ingredients are spread evenly. Don't, for example, place the beans next to the meat. Make your burrito by placing ingredients on top of one another spreading them lengthwise.

3. Don't put to much filling! Too many ingredients or filling can make it so you can not correctly fold your burrito or tear the tortilla.

That's it folks! I hope it comes in handy!
