Animal rights versus human needs

Animal right issues have continued to generate lots of controversies across Western Nations and some other parts of the world in recent times. People are being arrested and penalized for infringing upon the rights of animals.

The laws are simple and clear; animals ought to enjoy a huge degree of protection by all means. In most parts of Europe for instance, there are reports of heavy financial penalties for hunters of wild live animals, birds, sea animals and pets. A Boulder woman woman received a fine of $1,000 for dyeing her white miniature poodle pink just to call attention to Breast cancer. She had allegedly used beet juice and kool-aid. She was fined under an ordinance which makes it illegal to dye animals. The ordinance was designed to discourage people from dyeing rabbits and chickens for Easter in Boulder county.

Dyeing of animals in Africa is not a crime, people in rural local counties in Africa do dye their goats, chick ens ,sheeps, dogs and other animals in their processions for easy recognition amongs other animals in the flock. Animal rights is just a non issue in Africa. People hunt down birds, dogs, bush animals for food and commercial purposes without any legislation against their actions.

Animal rights should be protected no doubt, but the extent to which such rights should be allowed is the main issue in this case. All humans depend on meat as a source of protein and energy, what happens if animals rights prevents us from killing animals for meat source, what happens if poultry birds are over protected from being killed? It means there wouldn't be milk and milk products for consumption. There wouldn't also be animal skin for the manufacture of clothes and leather products.

Animal rights should not be taken too far in such a way that the basic needs of humans are not considered .There should be a balance between human rights and basic needs as well as animal protection rules which will protect excessive or illegal killing of under-aged or immature animals should be made. This will ensure a control on the numbers of animals while humans can still get their basic needs from those animals.
