If your anything like me then you probably enjoy a good online card game. The cheaper the better, and free is always good. A simple search on Google or any search engine for free online card games will instantly barrage you with thousands of sites, some aren't with your time lets just say that.
Some of you are probably asking yourselves, "Why play online?". Well the answer to that is pretty simple for a person like me who plays tons of online games, because you get to play with other people all over the world. Challenging and defeating other humans in games brings me such a rush sometimes, you never know what the other player is going to do.
What are some sites I can visit to play these online card games? Good question, as I said earlier there are a good number of sites devoted to this so one could basically get lost in this sub-culture of online card gaming. Luckily for you, I know where to find the better online card games, lets take a look at some sites to get you started.
MSN Gaming Zone
-http://zone.msn.com
Of course this is part of the MSN network, but don't let that discourage you. They have a wide variety of card games, most are free to play online, and some you can download to your PC whenever your tired of beating or loseing to other human players online.
There is a option with some card games on this site to play for cash prizes, occasionally the MSN gaming zone even holds tournaments for card gamers. This means opportunities to win big money of course. The only thing bad about this site is the advertisement's, but the card game selection makes up for that I think.
Yahoo! Games
-http://games.yahoo.com
Another big name company, but I have to admit yahoo's online card game selection beats MSN. They also seem to pay a lot more attention to things like tournaments, as there are at least six upcoming tournaments just for Spades. Just like MSN gaming zone Yahoo games features online card gaming at it's best, cash prizes, tons of players, and best of all it's free!
The games pop up in their own window, so you can surf the net in the background or look at news on the Yahoo pages if you wish. I recommend trying out Spades on Yahoo games, by the way even if your a beginner or a advanced player Yahoo's card games offer separate rooms for your skill level. This keeps the advanced players from playing on the new players.
Yahoo games also features a "ladder" tournament for players to show off their skills to get to the top.
Pogo
-http://www.pogo.com
This site is lesser known then the above sites for online card games, but I have to say that it is indeed the best. The selection of card games at Pogo is second to none, I highly recommend this site. They have variations of a lot of classic card games as well just to make sure you never get bored.
The players on this site are actually very nice, and this site gives away more prizes then Yahoo and MSN from what I've seen. Pojo too has tournaments, more so then MSN. Maybe it's because this site is devoted to just games, but this site is perfect for playing many different types of card games online.
Don't be afraid to make friends on these sites, as they are often very nice. Who knows, you may have to challenge them to a game of Solitaire after they beat you at Spades.
