"Yes" I do believe in "Love at First Sight".
The common sense side of me says, no, we need to get to know this person before "Love" enters the picture.
The reality of it is,"Love at First Sight", happens and it happened to me. It also happened when I was not looking for it and when I had least expected to find "Love".
My story begins 35 years ago. My ex-husbands cousin, who had been a girlfriend of mine since high school called and asked me to go with her, just to get me out of the house. I had been divorced about 6 months before and had been spending all my time working and raising my small son. My son was just about to turn 5 years old, he was the most precious thing in my life and I had planned to live my life alone and raise him the best I could. I was devastated over my divorce and did not want to go out. She told me to call my mother to see if she would babysit that evening for my son. I called mom and,of course, she was happy to hear I was finally going someplace other than work and home. Little did I know what was waiting for me when my friend and I went for a Sandwich and a Pepsi.
We went to a little place where there was a jukebox playing the music we all loved at the time, it was 1973. We sat at a little table and ordered our food. Just talking as we always did. She and I had gone to high school together and we remain friends to this very day. My friend is my ex-husbands cousin and the person who introduced me to him 10 years before. I felt so bad about my divorce and the fact he was her cousin. I just really was not interested in other men at the time. I did not want to have my little son or me hurt again.
We were sitting there minding our own business when a nice looking young man came over to our table and asked my friend to dance. She got up and danced with him, while his friend had asked me to dance. When we sat back down at our table, I said "Boy! You have all the luck, you get the good ones", because the guy she danced with was a cutie. Another song played on the jukebox and this good looking guy came back to our table. To my surprise, he asked me to dance. Well, needless to say, looking for love or not, I found it. I found "Love" without any real effort on my part at all.
This young man asked me for my phone number and even though I thought he was so good looking, I did not give it to him. I had been hurt so bad by my ex that I figured anyone who wanted me had to fight for me. I felt a connection that night to that good looking, nice young man.
