Teaching kids time management

Time management is important not only to our daily work, and it is important for the kids. We should help them to build up a good habit of time management. This is one of the skills in life, in daily work, and in the future jobs. Though kids don't need to worry about the time management in their jobs, it is necessary to train them to manage their time well from now on.

We should let them know that we start with the most important day. They should try to understand the time management policy is to follow " urgent and important - urgent but not important - important but not urgent - neither urgent nor important". Fore example, if there are the following things to do:
1. go to the park
2. have breakfast
3. go to the toilet
4. buy some food for tomorrow
Then, try to ask them to arrange the things to do in order: which should be put in the top of the list? We know that we need to go to the toilet first, if it is urgent. Then, wash hand, to have breakfast. Then, go to the park. When we come back, we buy some food. This is one of the ways to train the children to manage their time.

Also, they need to learn to list the things to do in a day. You can ask them, "How many things do you want to do today?" Then, let them write them down on a paper. With the skills I mentioned in the above, ask them to arrange their time properly.

Sometimes, time management has something to do with locations and distances. If they have to go to places which are 5 miles, 10 miles, 15 miles away from home. They need to learn to calculate the best route of the time schedule. There must be a best way to arrange it under this situation. It is wonderful to know that they could do something by themselves. As a parent, you need to try to guide them to arrange the time by themselves.

Time management can make things in order, and life in order. Since it is so important, do help your kids to have a good habit of time management, for it will play an important role in their future as well as at present.

Pay attention to the growth of your child, and offer them better early education.
