Managing curly hair: The best products and how to use them

A co-worker told me a couple of months ago, "I'd kill to have your curly hair." My response was, "most days I'll cut it off and give it to you!" As I am growing my naturally curly hair longer I have learn to appreciate it more. I credit that also to the products I use. I use a combination of products for my hair is color treated as well.

I use Redken Extreme Shampoo and Conditioner (blue bottles). For some reason my curly hair and probably other's blessed with this bounce, dries out easily. When I step out of the shower, I use Paul Mitchell Seal and Shine immediately. After combing my hair, I use Redken ringlet as a gel. Most of the time I try to give my hair fifteen to twenty five minutes to air dry before I bust out the hair dryer. I don't use a diffuser for my curls could become really kinky and there is nothing sexy about that on me! :) Oh and once in blue moon I use the Redken CAT spray as a leave-in treatment for my hair.

After drying my hair I use, Paul Mitchell's anti frizz gloss and then finish with a light hairspray. But I have to tell you by mid day, on most days, my hair is up in a claw style clip!

I have tried many a product from several price ranges. Pantene, Suave, Aussie, Bed Head, Aquena, and Aveda makes my hair become a mess. Maybe it's the combination of natural curly hair and dying it once a month to cover the gray. The vanity is going to win, I am too young to gray roots!

Recently I have branched out and tried Redken's color protection line. I can't give a verdict yet because I was traveling and showering in hotels with water softeners. My hair has better days when I have hard water in my hair. Does that make sense? But I am home now with my, thankfully, hard Texas mineral water and will give these products another chance.

Lastly, I wash my hair about 5 times a week. There are days when I can't stand having my hair "dirty". Those are the days when the hair is up all day even before I leave the house. I know that washing everyday increases it drying out, but that's just personal preference!

I am willing to listen to anyone who can tame their frizzies and have beautiful pasta style curls. What products work for you? Just let me know!
