Why do I love you,
My brother?

Your smile - forever so sweet
Lingers in my memories
Your face, so full of peace
In the midst of a world of war.

Why do I love you,
My brother?

Your temper, or lack of it
So unlike the men I have known before
Nothing will ruffle your spirit
Nothing naughty will leave your jaw.

Why do I love you,
My brother?

You showed me I have a choice
To love or to hate
You showed me it is possible
To choose love and not hate.

Why do I love you,
My brother?

There is peace in you
That many envy
That many yearn for
But can never achieve.

Why do I love you,
My brother?

There is only love for me
Love of the purest nature
Not lust, nor jealousy
No selfish theme.

Why do I love you,
My brother?

Though of different parents
And of opposing religions
You chose to call me sister
And treat me as one so dear.

That is why I love you
My brother so dear
For you showed me true love
That only Jesus can give.
