Food is the body's fuel. We all need some form of food to provide us with energy. There are proteins, fats and carbohydrates, all needed in various amounts to help us be healthy. But this topic is what are the top 10 foods you like, so this is about what I like whether it is healthy or not!
1. Prawns - I adore prawns whether hot in a pasta or rice dish, or cold smothered in Marie Rose sauce and served with melon or avocado. Preferably ready shelled as I hate getting in a mess when out in a restaurant!
2. Pineapple - a fresh juicy pineapple is so refreshing and one of my favourite fruits, I love it sliced ready in the fridge and am tempted to steal a slice when I open the fridge for something else.
3. Fresh cream - I am not a lover of milk, but adore creamy desserts, cream cakes or cream poured over ice cream.
4. Cheese - again because I don't love milk, my mother encouraged me to eat lots of cheese, I know too much isn't good for me, but I still love cheese and crackers, or cheese on top of various pasta cheeses when baked in the oven. Hard to pick one cheese as my favourite, I love Cheddar, brie, Stilton with cranberries, smokes Austrian - too many to mention!
5. Fish - We eat a lot of fish, my favourite is sea bass, with sole as a close second. recently our local supermarket has been selling Vietnamese River cobbler and this is delicious, and also comes smoked. Salmon and smoked salmon is high on my list as I live in Scotland.
6.Asparagus - my favourite vegetable, too expensive to eat often, but my choice if we're out for a starter. I love it will chicken in a pie and as soup too.
7.Roast Beef - cooked slightly underdone and served with Yorkshire pudding. I prefer roast beef to other beef dishes, as long as it is nice and tender.
8.Lemon - lemon is so refreshing and a delicious accompaniment to fish dishes, but for me, it has to be in puddings. I like lemon tart, with a crisp sweet pastry and soft lemony filling, as a lemon meringue pie, in a creamy cheescake, or as a sorbet.
9.Bacon - not a healthy choice, but can you beat bacon and egg for breakfast, or a bacon roll.A bit of bacon chopped and added to lasagne just gives that extra taste.
10. Coffee - does that count as a food? I couldn't live without my coffee! I only have one cup of ground coffee a day now as I have to drink de-caffeinated, but I still have several cups a day. Coffee cake is so delicious and served with a cappucino makes a special treat.
I try to eat healthily so my top ten foods aren't eaten everyday, but I hope you enjoyed reading.
