Poetry: Nature

Autumn,Dublin,Ireland 2006.

Five minutes past eight on Christchurch Square Clock.
Friday, the thirteenth,
Early Morning light in Dublin,
Nice early Autumn Weather,
Under tall old trees with mostly green leaves
Early morning traffic and hurried people
Going to work.

Five minutes past eight on Christchurch Square Clock.
Friday, the thirteenth,
An early curled leaf is falling slowly down
This leaf is turned completely brown,
The tall old trees still have mostly green leaves,
But when it drops on the ground
I hear a thud'.

Five minutes past eight on Christchurch Square Clock.
Friday, the thirteenth,
In the early morning rush
A leaf drifts down on a light wind
Under the tall old tree with mostly green leaves
How did I hear that thud'
In the morning traffic noise.

Five minutes past eight on Christchurch Square Clock.
Friday, the thirteenth,
Early morning, nice weather
Autumn in the year of Our Lord 2006,
Just under a tall old tree with mostly green leaves
I hear a Golden Autumn leaf
Drop thud' on the paving slab.
