Is it possible to support the troops, but not the war? Absolutely. There wasn't some sort of meeting. The country didn't hold it's breath to find out what the soldiers wanted to do. All the men and women in the service hadn't taken a collective vote to see if they wanted to fight in Iraq or not.
Those people have a legal obligation to fulfill their job, just like you and I. They can't walk away from their responsibilities just because they don't agree. They signed a contract. This contract specifically states that if you sign it, you belong to the country. And you belong to the country even if that means that you must go to war and die.
There are too many people complaining about joining the military, not knowing they were going
to have to fight. Really? What else does the military do? What where these people expecting? Did they think the military was going to pay for their college and housing bills, and then just have them come work out together every month?
It's the military! It's here to protect us. If the country considers something a threat, then the military must obey. Even if every single person disagrees, it's not the point, they still have to do their job.
Tax dollars are being put down to pay for the war. Then shouldn't you stop paying taxes? If you don't then you must support the war, right? Never mind that it's breaking the law, or it's your obligation as a citizen. You must, whether or not you agree.
Nobody will refuse to pay taxes to protest the war in Iraq. Mainly because that would affect them, jail time, fines, and basically ruining their lives. The same situation exists for the troops over seas. They are called upon to perform the job set before them by their country. Regardless of how they feel about the issue, they must do their job.
You can't look at a soldier, who may or may not want to be fighting, and remind them that they have a country to come back to? They are in a place that is filled with people who want to murder them, murder their families and friends.
They want to completely destroy our way of life, and the people who don't just hate us for making their lives that much more frightening and oppressive. The handful of people who live in the country who might actually like the soldiers STILL can't be trusted.
Then the soldiers come back home to find out that half our country hates them just for doing their job? You've got to love the world today. The question was, is it possible to support the troops, but not the war. My question is; will you forsake the troops, because they MUST fight a war?
